| Don and Linda in Carmel |
| Currently |
| I have been living in Las Vegas, Nevada, with my wife,
Linda since 2003. During the last 15 years I have had homes and businesses
in Utah and Nevada. We recently purchased a little country acre near Park
City, Utah, and are busy planting our retirement “roots” there. We hope to
have our home completed by winter 2007. My son, Blake, lives in Salt Lake City; he graduated from college at Westminster College. He shares my love of flying, and has received his instrument training status this year. Linda has 2 daughters and 3 grandchildren who reside in Las Vegas. |
| Activities and Hobbies |
| Traveling in our new motorcoach keeps us on the go. This year we toured the Central Rockies, NW Coast, British Colombia, with some time spent relaxing on our Indio RV pad. I enjoy an occasional trip on my BMW motorcycle with my son, Blake. I have rekindled my photography hobby. Linda and I plan to see more of the US and Canada this summer in our coach, so watch for a photo journal on-line! Boating is a past hobby, but a real love. |
| Since HS-6 | |
| Reserves | |
| I joined the Reserves and continued flying with the HS squadrons in Alameda and North Island. I was able to get a reserve retirement about the time I made CDR and forgot about the military until I turned 60 – the monthly check is nice and the health care plan is the best. | |
| Business | |
| I completed college at San Jose State University, in 1970.
Took off for a year to travel in Europe. I then went into computer
programming for Ross Perot at Electronic Data Systems in San Francisco, and
later decided that I would rather sell and transferred to the Greyhound
Leasing and Financial area of EDS to lease their portfolio of mainframes. In 1976 I changed career gears and relocated to San Diego to work for John Burnham & Co. in a commercial real estate brokerage firm specializing in office/industrial properties. In 1986 I became a partner for a development company in San Diego, and then in 1988 I moved to Las Vegas to start Sanborn Development Company. In Las Vegas, I completed approximately 300,000 sq ft of office and industrial projects. In 1996 I expanded into the Salt Lake City area, and developed eight industrial and office parks there. Retirement doesn’t appeal to me yet, so another office project is planned in Utah next year. Hopefully, work won’t interfere with travel! |
